Spell out whole numbers in English words, in the international or Indian (lakh, crore) system.
The international system groups digits in threes: thousand, million (1,000,000) and billion (1,000,000,000). The Indian system groups the first three digits, then in twos: thousand, lakh (1,00,000) and crore (1,00,00,000). So 12,500,000 is twelve million five hundred thousand internationally, and one crore twenty-five lakh in India. Very large Indian amounts are written in crores, so 10,000 crore reads as ten thousand crore.
Numbers up to 999 billion are supported in both systems.
The words come out in American style, without 'and' (One Hundred Five rather than One Hundred and Five). For a cheque, add the currency and the word only yourself, for example Rupees Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Only. Decimals aren't converted, so write the paise or cents separately, such as and Fifty Paise.
One Lakh in the Indian system, or One Hundred Thousand in the international system.
100 lakh make 1 crore, which is 10 million.
