Calculate speed, distance, or time using various standard units.
Speed = distance ÷ time, distance = speed × time, and time = distance ÷ speed. The catch is always the units: the calculator converts everything to metres and seconds before doing the maths, so mixing kilometres, miles, km/h and mph gives correct answers. Running 10 km in 50 minutes is 12 km/h, or about 7.46 mph.
The result is an average speed over the whole distance. Real journeys speed up and slow down, so allow extra time for stops and traffic.
1 mile = 1.609344 km exactly. 1 m/s = 3.6 km/h, which is about 2.24 mph. 100 km/h is about 62.1 mph.
Divide the total distance by the total time. Choose Speed, enter both, and click Calculate.
3 hours 20 minutes, ignoring stops. Choose Time, enter 300 km and 90 km/h.
Yes. Time is entered as hours, minutes and seconds, so 1 hour 30 minutes is 1 and 30.
Divide by 1.609. The calculator shows speed results in both units automatically.
