  3. Click the copy icon to copy the RGB value.

How the conversion works

CMYK describes ink on paper, which subtracts light, while RGB describes light from a screen, which adds it. The converter uses the standard formula: red = 255 × (1 - cyan) × (1 - black), and the same for green with magenta and blue with yellow. 0, 100, 100, 0 (full magenta and yellow) gives pure red, #FF0000.

Why print and screen never match exactly

Real printing depends on the inks, paper and the colour profile used, such as FOGRA or US Web Coated. This simple formula doesn't use a profile, so treat the result as a close on-screen approximation, not a proof. Screens can also show bright colours that ink can't print, so vivid RGB colours often look duller in print. For exact brand matching, use the RGB or HEX values from the official brand guidelines when they're given.

Key Features & Practical Use Cases

  • Getting a screen colour for a brand colour given as CMYK in a print style guide.
  • Previewing how a CMYK colour roughly looks before printing.
  • Turning printer colour specs into HEX for a website or presentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CMYK 0, 0, 0, 100 in RGB?

Pure black: rgb(0, 0, 0), #000000.

Why does my printed colour look different?

Print depends on inks, paper and colour profiles, which a simple formula can't account for.

Can I convert RGB to CMYK here?

No, this tool goes from CMYK to RGB only.

What does the K in CMYK stand for?

Key, meaning the black plate. Black ink gives deeper darks than mixing the other three.
