How to Use Voice & Audio Recorder

  1. Click the record button and allow microphone access when asked. A timer and a live level meter show it's working.
  2. Pause and resume as often as you need.
  3. Click stop to finish. Play the recording back in the player.
  4. Click Download Recording to save it, or record again.

Your recording stays with you

Audio is captured with your browser's built-in recorder and kept in memory on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and the recording is gone when you close the page unless you download it. The file is named with the date, such as voice-recording-2026-10-10.webm.

File formats

The format depends on your browser. Chrome, Edge and Firefox usually save WebM or Ogg audio, which plays in browsers, VLC and most modern apps. Safari on iPhone and Mac saves M4A, which plays almost everywhere. If you need MP3 for an older device or a website upload, convert the file afterwards with an audio converter.

Why can't I record?

Your browser needs microphone permission. If you blocked it, allow the microphone for this site in your browser settings and reload. Make sure no other app is using the microphone.

Is there a time limit?

No set limit. Long recordings use more of your device's memory, so download them when you're done.

Can I save as MP3?

Not directly. Browsers record in WebM, Ogg or M4A; convert the file if you need MP3.

Is my recording uploaded?

No. It stays on your device and is only saved if you download it.
