How to Use Pixelate Image
Upload an image.
Move the Pixel Block Size slider, from 2 pixels (subtle) to 50 (very blocky). The preview updates as you go.
Click download. The image is saved in the same format, for example photo-pixelated.jpg.
How the effect works
The image is shrunk down so each block becomes a single pixel, averaging the colours in that area, then blown back up to its original size without smoothing. That's what gives clean, hard-edged squares rather than a blur. The block size is in pixels of the original image, so the same setting looks blockier on a small picture than on a large one. The whole image is pixelated evenly.
Pixelation and privacy
Small blocks over text or faces can sometimes be undone: researchers have shown that lightly pixelated text can be reconstructed. If you're hiding something sensitive, use a large block size, or better still cover it with a solid box in a photo editor.
