Why some photos look sideways
Phones often save photos the way the sensor sees them and add a note (EXIF orientation) saying which way is up. Your gallery reads the note, but some websites and programs ignore it, so the picture appears sideways. Your browser applies that note when it opens the image, and the rotated copy you download has the pixels themselves turned and no orientation note, so it shows the same way everywhere.
