Which mode to use
Remove Duplicate Spaces turns any run of spaces or tabs into a single space and keeps your line breaks; it's the safe everyday clean-up. Remove All Spaces deletes every space and tab, which is useful for IDs, card numbers or codes but will join normal words together. Remove Empty Lines deletes blank lines and leaves the rest alone. Merge into Single Line replaces line breaks with spaces and squeezes repeated spaces, so a paragraph broken across lines becomes one line again.
Trimming removes spaces at the start and end of every line before the chosen mode runs.
